Birthday Giveaway: LoveBird Soap and $25 TpT Gift Certificate
Today is my birthday. I decided over the summer that I wanted to have a giveaway for my birthday.
I spent too long making a 'quick' little button. It wasn't what I wanted, but it will do! What really matters is that I am giving away a $25 TpT gift certificate and a prize pack from LoveBird Soap with two large soaps, a lotion bar, and a lip balm.
When I was in middle and high school, I did a lot of babysitting. I had enough regular clients to not need any other jobs. I feel really old admitting that I used to babysit for the owner of LoveBird Soap. Last year I ordered from Katie's store for the first time. I bought several bars of soap, a lotion bar, and a lip balm. I loved everything so much I ordered more to give as Christmas gifts.
I use the Morning Madness soap each morning. The tea tree spearmint lotion bar is fantastic for when I have a migraine. It is also great on my feet and hands. I custom ordered lip balm with cinnamon and clove that has replaced my old Burt's Bees. I love it!
I haven't seen her since the late 90's, but I know Katie is working hard to grow her business, and I was thrilled when she said she would donate to my birthday giveaway. Please be sure to visit her on social media.
Oh, and I'm also giving away a $25 TpT Gift Certificate. Just because can. Good luck!
a Rafflecopter giveaway
**Disclaimer: Katie is sending me a bar of her yummy smelling pumpkin soap as a birthday present, but all opinions are my own. This stuff is awesome. That is my honest opinion.

Giveaway and THE Board
I’m happy to be taking part in an awesome giveaway with two of my favorite bloggers. Joanne at Head Over Heels for Teaching and Holly at Fourth Grade Flipper have each reached 1,000 followers.

To help with their giveaway, I’ve contributed two of my favorite products.

This are both task cards with self-checking QR codes. I LOVE using QR codes to provide instant feedback. I’ve blogged about it here and here.
In other news, I have spent hours this week on my bulletin board display. I had it in my head that all 400 students should contribute to it. It has been a big headache!
This was the fall board:
Each student painted an old book page and I put it together.

I spent my teacher work day gluing down out funky Florida snowflakes. There were no kids around, so I put You’ve Got Mail on the SMARTboard while I worked.

It is almost ready to hang. It takes about four people and a staple gun to get this in the glass cabinet.

Fun times! I’ll post pictures when it is finally posted!

I am working on two new products for my store. The first is a research project I'm finishing up with my 5th graders. They are creating some amazing snowmen inspired by famous artists. The second is a 3rd grade cookie multiplication/division craftivity. I hope to have both posted by Friday. (Fingers crossed.)
Back to the point of this post, I just got an e-mail saying that I am up to 400 Bloglovin' followers! To celebrate, let's play a little 'Pin it to win it' game. To enter, pin any product from my TpT store to Pinterest. Leave the link to the pin in the comments here. You may enter as many times as you would like. Each comment containing a pin counts as an entry. I will pick three winners to pick the prize of their choice.
The game ends Sunday night after my kids are in bed. Good luck!

Winter Planning Giveaway Stop B-1
How did it get to be December already? My Pinterest boards are brimming with winter projects to start on Monday. Speaking of winter planning, I’m excited to be part of the Winter Planning Giveaway hosted by I’m Lovin’ Lit.

This is my favorite kind of giveaway. Everyone wins! If you haven’t been there yet, go visit I’m Lovin’ Lit for all the details. Prize Pack B has two of my favorite things: Math and Clip Art. Love it!

For those of you who might be new to my site, I teach at an elementary school in Florida. After ten years in third grade, I am now teaching in a K-5 STEAM Lab. (Think STEM + Art.) It has been a big transition, but I am LOVING what I do!
As for my contribution to the prize pack, I’ve donated my Merry Measurement and Writing.

I’ve made applesauce cinnamon ornaments with my class for years. When I was student teaching (over a decade ago – goodness!) my kindergarteners talked about the senses as we made the decorations. Teaching in an older grade, we added some measurement activities and then wrote about observations we made using our senses. Last year I got some great clip art that I used for writing organizers and paper for publishing the student writing. I hope you enjoy this activity as much as I have in past years.

For my part of the giveaway, I’m asking you to please follow me:
While you are there, be sure to check out my Math QR Code games. I have several in my store, but this might be my favorite:
I love self checking activities. My students love the games. It is a win-win! (End of shameless plug)

Before, After, and Pin-it-to-win-it
I’m exhausted. Seriously exhausted.
I haven’t read a single blog since Monday. I haven’t even looked at Bloglovin’ to see how many unread posts I have now.
Monday was a rough day back. I was overwhelmed by my classroom. The computers are here, but the tables I picked won’t come in until the end of September. The work order to update the electric sockets and data ports was put in back in June, but they haven’t done it yet. Without electricity, I have iMacs waiting in boxes. We were still sorting out the SMART board, so it obviously wasn’t ordered yet.
Monday night I baked cookies and decided that Tuesday was going to be a better day.
I couldn’t change furniture/technology that was not going to be there on time, so I decided to focus on what I could do. Up first was the purple cabinets. I could not live with the purple cabinets.

The picture does not tell the tale of just how bad they were before. The blue makes me happy. The polka dots help hide the imperfections in these very old doors.

On the other side of the room is the kiln in a metal cage. I won’t even tell you how many people asked which kids I’d planned to keep in there.

I used a bungee cord and curtains I already owned to take care of the cage-like doors. The cart holds crayons. I found it on clearance for $31 at Michaels. I used my color cards to label the drawers. I also have the world’s largest tub of old crayons in my room. I had some students help start to sort the crayons by color. It did not even start to make a dent in the world’s largest tub of old crayons.

I brought my kids with me two nights last week. The first night I was coating the cabinets in Mod Podge. I sent my pint-sized helpers outside to paint the stools with water. My oldest also helped sort crayons. The second night they made wood bead necklaces. I kept the wood beads around just for that purpose!
Here are a few more ‘Before and After’ shots.

On either side of the board will a big table with 12 iMacs each. You will have to use your imagination for now.

The GIANT blue cabinet was too big to fit out the door. It must have been assembled in the room. I SO was happy to see it go! I have my owl rug in place and am just waiting for the SMART board to arrive.
Looking back at all the “Before and After” pictures I can tell just why I am so exhausted!
I’d planned to take final pictures of my room on Friday when I left, but they’d just moved in a giant laser color printer. It is a monster, but a monster I’m thrilled to have in my room! It won’t be set up until Monday. For now, I have a giant box.
For now it is family fun for the weekend. Miraculously everyone is napping, so I have time to look at TpT and to plan for the big sale tomorrow. I’m giving feedback and looking back at my wish list.
I recently updated my “Who am I?” pack. I’m happy with how it turned out!

As a reward for making it through the longest post ever, let’s play pin-it-to-win-it. Here’s how we’ll play. Pin any of my products to Pinterest and leave the link to the pin below. Monday night after my kids go to bed I will use a random number generator to pick a number and that person will win the prize they pinned. You may pin as many as you want and each will count as a different entry.
Enjoy your weekend!

Sundaes on Sunday
I was planning a giveaway for my one year blog birthday. Tuesday was the big day, but it was also my wedding anniversary. Last year I was working summer school on the big day and decided to try my hand at blogging. It has been a great journey. I’m looking forward to the future!
I decided Monday night to wait for the weekend for the celebration. I was still teaching last year, but this year I’m on vacation and I wanted to spend time with my family instead.
I’d created an ice cream themed QR code game to use as a flash freebie. Then I discovered that today is actually National Ice Cream Day. It seemed a natural fit!

I am loving this clip art from JC Sweetpea Designs. I made a big purchase during the teacher appreciation sale, and I have lots to work with now! I’m also a big fan of QR codes for self checking games/task cards.
In honor of my blog birthday and National Ice Cream Day, I’m offering these two products as flash freebies today only.

I plan on creating more of these later this summer. Subtraction, two digit addition/subtraction, harder multiplication, and eventually two step equations should eventually round out the set. These two files will be free today only, so please be sure to get them while you can! I only ask that you leave me some feedback love if you join the ice cream party.
Enjoy!

Family Fun
I was sure that this summer I was going to have time to blog. I had it all planned. I was going to create products and post regularly. I worked for the first month of my summer. Since then I’ve spent time with my family.
All my daughter wanted to do on her vacation was go bowling and to go to the library. We did both in the first two days. The Irishman wanted to spend lots of time at the beach and the pool. Our oldest has just started swimming without her floaties, so she is all about the pool. One of these days we will convince her we should go to the beach instead!
Today’s fun was a local children’s museum. They relocated in the last year or so. We went for the first time today and loved it.

They had a Maurice Sendak exhibit. There were Wild Things, Chicken Soup with Rice, and In the Kitchen.

The kids had a blast!

Confession – I started this post last night but fell asleep. We went to the museum yesterday. Today we did the beach and made homemade ice cream. Our two little pint-sized “ice cream maker helpers” did a great job of adding ice as it churned. The end result was super yummy!

Speaking of ice cream, you will want to stop by my blog on Sunday. I’m celebrating my blog birthday and National Ice Cream Day with a flash freebie you won’t want to miss!

It should be fun! Hope to see you then!

Winner, Winner!
Anyway, thank you to everyone who entered the Bloglovin’ giveaway. I’ve loved getting e-mails all week with new followers!
Congratulations to Kristi and Kim! I’ve sent you an e-mail with the information you need.
Speaking of Bloglovin’ – has anyone found a way to e-mail a blog post from bloglovin’? That was my favorite feature from Google Reader.
I was really frustrated last week. I have so much that I want to do, but I am still just keeping my head above water. Then I thought about it. I am working half days at camp. I am used to working afternoons in the summer. What I forgot is that I am working in my classroom each morning. I am really working 9:00-5:30 each day. No wonder I am tired!
Camp is over this week. I *might* have volunteered to go to a three day Common Core workshop next week. Some people never learn! I hope to be out of my old classroom by Friday. I will feel much better once that is off my plate.
I hope to have time to blog more once my summer really begins.
